Its been forever since I updated this thing with any content, so now I am hopelessly out of date. I figured I would just spout a bunch of things, so here goes.
I am currently on the East Coast for Thanksgiving. I have been here since saturday morning, and will continue to be here until sunday night. Its nice to get a change of scenery sometimes.
I can't eat:
I got a Thawte Personal Email Cert, and have been signing my emails. I used to avoid those sorts of things, because I did not like sending MIME emails, but I have decided that it is the year 2003, and if your email client does not deal with attachments properly you should get a new one.
I took my mom rockclimbing monday, and she learned to belay. I think we are going again wednesday. She took me to her gym tuesday, and we worked with a trainer. I kept up pretty well. I started on an exercise bike, and was able to keep a up a pace of 90-100RPM pretty constantly on moderate difficulty for about 20 minutes, then do a bunch of misc machines. Then after the machines we did some stuff in the pool, which is where I sort of faltered. I am not such a good swimmer, so when we were supposed to be doing breast stroke I would start swallowing water, which sort of impaired my ability to keep up. Ah well. I really liked that exercise bike, too bad the home version of it is $2499.
Well, I am in LA, at Geoff's apartment. I will be getting on a plane to return to Northern California in about two hours. Its nice to get away, I got to see some friends and some family, and bought two really cool pairs of pants!!
On a side note, I would like to say that I feel blog spammers are an even worse form scum than regular spammers, and they deserve to be publicly flogged, its to bad its outside the bounds of American judicial system.
Well, I decided to do some tooling on my bike, so I bought a set of Avid 03 Disc Brakes off Ebay. Due to various complications it took me a while, but I just finished installing the front break (I recommend replacing one break at a time and waiting a few days in between, that way if there is some wrong with the installation you still have one of your old, working breaks). It appears to be calibrated well, but I need to use more pull on my brake levers than I like. I think the travel length on the brake arm is longer on my new brakes, which means I might need to get new brake levers with a better pull ration to get it working the way I like again. I'll take it for a test drive and see what I think. I have a feeling I am going to be bidding on some Avid Speed Dials.
